About
My Vision
Based in Castelbuono, Sicily, I am a photographic artist, researcher, and educator specializing in 19th-century processes (wet/dry collodion, salt, and albumen printing).
Rather than historical re-enactment, I view these techniques as a contemporary language grounded in materiality, time, and physical experience. My artistic research explores memory, human-nature relationships, and portraiture. The encounter with the sitter generates fragile, unrepeatable images on unique plates that resist digital dematerialization, turning photography into tangible memory. Craftsmanship and technical experimentation transform light into living substance, making the process integral to the work.
In 2019, I began collaborating with the George Eastman Museum, leading to an ongoing partnership with Mark and France Scully Osterman to conduct international workshops. Teaching remains vital for transmitting skills and preserving material memory. My work is held in private and institutional collections.
