Pregnancy transformed not only my wife's body, but also the way I came to understand it.
Gestation was conceived during my wife Laura's pregnancy and completed just two days before the birth of our daughter, Giorgia.
During those months, I witnessed a transformation that profoundly changed the way I looked at the human body. Day after day, I watched it become stronger, more resilient and, for that very reason, more beautiful. Pregnancy revealed itself not simply as a period of waiting, but as an extraordinary expression of life's ability to adapt, protect and generate.
Each image combines two exposures. The silhouette of Laura's body merges with the form of grain, a universal symbol of fertility and the potential contained within every seed. Rather than illustrating motherhood, the series reflects on the quiet force of creation and on the continuous transformation through which life takes shape.
Each work is a unique 10 × 12 inch wet plate collodion positive on clear glass. The physical presence of every plate becomes inseparable from the work itself, reinforcing the singularity of a moment that could never be repeated.
