Hands preserve the traces of a life more faithfully than a face.
This ongoing collaboration between Gianni Cusumano and Gianluca Bonomo explores the expressive potential of the human hand. Removed from its practical function and isolated from the rest of the body, each hand becomes a portrait in itself, revealing age, labour, care, identity and experience through gesture, texture and form.
Rather than illustrating what hands do, the series reflects on what they silently reveal. Every wrinkle, scar and movement becomes part of a visual language shaped by a lifetime of human experience.
Each work is a unique wet plate collodion positive on glass.
